Iowa reports 5 additional COVID-19 deaths, 141 new positive tests

The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 141 new positive COVID-19 tests and five additional deaths Wednesday.

At 10 a.m., the health department reported 402,747 total positive tests, 363,057 total recoveries and 6,078 total deaths since the pandemic began. A day earlier, the health department reported 402,606 total positive tests and 6,073 total deaths.

IDPH data shows 1,397,113 people have completed a vaccine series in Iowa, with 2,826,006 total doses administered. Find out how you can get vaccinated in Iowa here.

Iowa’s 7-day test positivity rate is holding steady at 2%, while the 14-day average dropped from 2% to 1.9%. There have been 5,099,173 total COVID-19 tests administered in Iowa.

The number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 increased from 79 to 85 overnight. There are 18 patients in ICU and eight patients on ventilators.

Four long-term care facilities report 30 positive cases and one recovery among residents and staff. There have been 2,370 care facility deaths in Iowa.
