Have you heard of the Acai Bowls? Well, if you love these or have been waiting to try one out, Aldi now has mixes you can buy to make your own! Read more below.
Aldi Acai Bowl Superfruit Packs
Acai Bowls are a trending health food idea, that basically takes a fruit smoothie to the next level and makes a full meal out of it! Although they have actually been around a while, Acai bowls are now gaining in popularity as a way to get some great superfoods into your day– without eating raw fruits and veggies. If you’re a fan of fruit smoothies these are a must try!
If you haven’t yet heard of Acai Bowls, basically they start with a puree of frozen Acai Berries, sometimes mixed with other fruits, nuts, seeds or granola. These berries are known for their nutrition value, and although they don’t pack a lot of protein, it’s easy to make a full meal just by adding some delicious toppings.
My Aldi had this Simply Nature 4 pack of Acai Superfruit Packs for under $4 (prices vary around the country). They were located in the center freezer near the frozen fruits and ice creams. I actually grabbed two of these 4-packs, since they are a lot more expensive per serving at Target or even Sam’s. If you are ordering these at a smoothie or nutritional drink stop, they are going to probably be well over $5 per serving.
Why is acai always frozen?
One of the reasons that acai is often frozen is because it is difficult to harvest the berries without damaging them. The berries grow on tall palm trees and need to be collected quickly after they ripen. freezing them allows them to be transported without spoilage. In addition, freezing the berries helps to preserve their nutritional content. Acai only stays fresh for a few days after harvesting, so freezing it is the best way to enjoy its benefits.
Is an acai bowl healthy?
The acai berry, is a dark purple fruit that is native to Central and South America. The berries are rich in antioxidants and have long been associated with various health benefits. When made into a bowl, acai berries are typically combined with other fruits, nuts, and seeds to create a nutrient-rich meal. While there is no definitive answer as to whether or not an acai bowl is healthy, the general consensus is that it can be part of a healthy diet. The main concern with acai bowls is that they often contain large amounts of sugar, which can offset any potential health benefits. However, by choosing a bowl made with unsweetened acai berry pulp and topping it with healthy ingredients, you can create a nutritious and satisfying meal.
Are acai bowls good for weight loss?
The short answer is yes, acai bowls can be helpful for weight loss. The key is to choose a bowl that’s high in fiber and protein, and low in sugar. A bowl made with fresh fruit, oats, and Greek yogurt is a great option. The fruit provides fiber and antioxidants, while the oats offer filling fiber and the Greek yogurt delivers protein. This type of bowl will keep you feeling satisfied until lunchtime rolls around. And because you’re not eating processed foods or empty calories, you’ll be more likely to lose weight in the long run. So go ahead and enjoy an acai bowl for breakfast – your waistline will thank you!
How to Make an Acai Bowl:
The directions say to mix in 1 banana, your favorite fruits, and any liquid to thin out the puree (I used about 3 tablespoons of regular orange juice. I blended it up in my Ninja blender on “Puree” setting and it was perfect. I did thaw out my Acai pack in the microwave until it was not frozen solid.
Top your bowl with nuts like pecans, almonds (the 100 calorie packs from Aldi are perfect!) and unsweetened coconut flakes. You can also add protein powder or other fruit if needed.
Hope you can get the chance to try these delicious bowls! They are great for a light lunch or afternoon snack that won’t load you up with extra carbs or fats. Note that the acai bowls are no sugar added themselves, but your toppings may add sugar. Enjoy!
