SIMSBURY, CT — The town's top elected body and appointed official both laid out their future goals in how they do their jobs during a special meeting last week.

Both the Simsbury Board of Selectmen and Simsbury Town Manager Maria Capriola laid out their plans at the Aug. 25 special meeting.

Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis created a PowerPoint on the board's goals.

Among them are:

• Continued transparence in government.

• Investing in and retaining a good municipal workforce.

• Reaching out to constituents regarding municipal information.

Capriola, according to meeting minutes, also said there is some room for improvement, namely technological improvements in the form of more modern computer software.

Other goals centered on culture, parks and recreation, as well as infrastructure improvements and the town's master facilities plan.

Developing an economic vision for the Simsbury community was also of primary focus.

Ultimately, selectmen voted unanimously on the latest updates to the board's goals.

Meanwhile, the council also unanimously approved a set of goals for Capriola to follow, which fell along the same lines as selectmen goals.
