A stunned babysitter has shared texts from an incredibly rude mother she worked for after the woman refused to pay her.

Agreeing to a predetermined fee of $16 per hour before the day of service, the anonymous nanny - who uploaded the texts on Reddit (Daily Mail has not independently confirmed her account) - can be seen asking when she can come back over to retrieve the cash.

Surprisingly, the mother doesn't seem to know what she's talking about, Kidspot Australia reported.

'I wasn't aware payment was involved. You got free ice cream and a day of fun... I'm sorry for the misinterpretation,' the woman said resolutely.

At this point the babysitter screenshots a copy of the conversation that called for $128 to be paid for eight hours of childminding and sends it to the confused mother, who admits she 'deletes messages often'.

'I'm sorry, but as much as I love seeing your kids I am doing this for payment. Exclusively,' comes the nanny's sharp reply.

Things very quickly turn nasty on the side of the mother.

'Well you're acting kind of stuck up aren't you? Can we compromise at $20?,' she queried.

The conversation swiftly ends when the mother calls her a 'c***' and blocks the babysitter, refusing to pay the required sum.

Social media was awash with anger, suggesting these screenshots could get the mother in a lot of trouble.

'Sounds like the first thing is to talk to the husband and see if he is any more reasonable,' one suggestion read.

'If not, she can take them to small claims court and with the text messages she has nearly a 100 per cent chance of winning. She'll get the original amount plus court fees.

'Until then and even after, she can drag their name through the mud. Tell the neighbours, tell her own friends and coworkers, post the screenshots on her own and the couple's social media, send some emails to any local daycare or baby sitting agencies.'
