When Doja Cat and Sza’s intergalactic, pink-tinged, music video for “Kiss Me More” premiered back in April, it immediately went viral, no doubt thanks in part to its wardrobe of sweetly futuristic looks.

The designer behind these viral custom outfits is a newcomer on the London fashion scene by the name of Chet Lo. The Central Saint Martins graduate recently staged his first runway show at London Fashion Week. “Being Chinese-American, I feel that I can naturally meld Eastern and Western aesthetics to make [clothes] more fun and colorful,” shared the designer about his spring 2023 collection. “I want to give these outdated notions a modern touch,”

The futuristic looks that stylist Brett Alan Nelson envisioned for the music video were right up the designer’s alley considering the “alien-esque” aesthetic is part of the DNA of his brand. Watch the latest episode of Behind the Look to learn more about how two of the music industry’s biggest stars ended up wearing Chet Lo’s designs — and how a transparent yarn brought the outfits to life.
