Netflix Drops Trailer for 'Harry & Meghan'! Get Your First Look Inside Their New Docuseries

We finally know when the Sussexes will be ready for binge-watching—and what they may reveal.

Harry & Meghan is officially coming to Netflix—and now we know when.

Details surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix show have long been shrouded in secrecy, with The Cut reporting that even though Markle wanted to speak more at length about the show, her team put the kibosh on talk about it.

Thankfully, more information about the Duke and Duchess' docuseries is finally available. Here's everything we know so far about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's series, including the release date.

What is Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Netflix show called?

The show is simply titled Harry & Meghan. Page Six previously reported that it was at one point titled Chapters, but that the former senior royals changed their minds.

When is Harry and Meghan's Netflix show release date?

Harry & Meghan will premiere Dec. 8, 2022, but only the first three episodes comprising "Volume I." Volume II, with another three episodes, will drop a week later on Dec. 15, 2022.

What is Harry and Meghan's Netflix show about?

The series will reportedly be about Harry and Meghan's "love story."

It will reportedly follow them through some of their exploits and adventures since moving to the United States after stepping down as senior royals.

A statement from Netflix notes that the show will focus on “the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution. With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”

Markle told The Cut, “The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story.” She said that a theme is the “resounding knowing that, above all, love wins ... I hope that is the sentiment that people feel when they see any of the content or the projects that we are working on.”

She added, “When the media has shaped the story around you, it’s really nice to be able to tell your own story.”

As for what exactly is included, cameras have been spotted following the Sussexes during the 2022 Invictus Games, as well as a trip to New York City in September 2021.

Who is the director for Harry and Meghan's Netflix series?

The couple hired director Liz Garbus to helm the show.

Markle previously told Variety, “It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story—a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired—even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it. But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”

She added, "It’s interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on Suits, it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun."

Garrett Bradley, director of Netflix documentary Naomi Osaka, was previously slated to direct the project, but reportedly parted ways with the Sussexes over creative differences.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's Netflix series will span six episodes total. Volume I will be three episodes, while Volume II will contain the second six episodes.

A teaser trailer for the series was released on Dec. 1, 2022. In it, Prince Harry says in a confessional-style interview, "I had to do everything I could to protect my family." Markle says, "When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

The trailer also shows personal photos of the pair throughout their lives as well as during their relationship, including from their 2018 royal wedding. There is also a snapshot of Markle crying while holding a cellphone and several shots of Markle wiping away tears in different settings.

There is also a pointed snapshot of the Sussexes behind King Charles (then Prince of Wales), with severe and stern-looking Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton at the 2019 Commonwealth Day Service. The teaser does not explicitly state what the pair will reveal in the docuseries, but the photo choice hints at a beef with the Cambridges in a big way.

A full trailer was released on Monday, Dec. 5. The trailer begins with Harry describing a whirlwind, as well as a flurry of positive press around his romance with and engagement to Markle. "And then," Markle says in a confessional interview, snapping her fingers—then the press got bad.

"Everything changed," Harry said. "There's a hierarchy of the family. You know, there's leaking, but there's also planting of stories."

Another interviewee says, "There was a war against Meghan to suit other people's agendas," while yet another adds, "It's about hatred. It's about race." Harry says, "It's a dirty game."

"The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution is a complete frenzy," he says, his voice coming over images of his late mother Princess Diana and headlines about Markle.

"I realized, 'They're never gonna protect you,'" Markle said, wiping away tears in a confessional interview with Harry.

"I was terrified," Harry says. "I didn't want history to repeat itself ... No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth."
