Tropical Storm Imelda Hovers Off Texas Coast

Storm Imelda weakened to a tropical depression but continued to threaten the Texas coast on Tuesday, September 17, bringing with it the promise of heavy rain and “life-threatening flash flooding,” according to the National Hurricane Center. Authorities in southeastern Texas were braced for high winds and heavy rain, with schools closed in some areas in anticipation of worsening conditions through to Thursday, September 19, according to local reports. In this video, a resident along the San Luis Pass watched as stormy conditions buffeted her area. Later she wrote: “Lots of heavy rain, lightning and thunder for many hours but, surprisingly, we still have power.” Credit: @dynamogal via Storyful
