Portland General Electric is offering people a payment matching program.

The utility company says it knows times are tough for a lot of people, and that's why it's offering a limited-time program where you can pay half of what you owe, and they'll pay the other half. Customers must contact the company directly to set up the plan.

"Customers are at the core of what we do," said PGE spokesperson Andrea Platt. "We recognized this, especially in the middle of a pandemic, we're providing an essential service."

PGE hopes this program will help customers get ahead of mounting bills. Right now, the utility has agreed to not shut off service for non-payment at least through July, and waive late fees.

If you want to learn more about the program, information can be found online.
