"This is simple step to recover your account" instead of "This is a simple step to recover your account."
But there are other red flags in the fake Amazon text.
The sender's email address is a long string of letters, which is a sign of a scam.
Amazon says its legitimate websites have ".amazon.com" after the name.
Amazon also says it will never send emails with links to an IP address, which is a string of numbers.
How to protect yourself
Never click on a link in a text or email that is unexpected.
You don't know where that link will take you or what it could download on your computer or phone.
