SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Tuesday for the eighth time in nine days, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.163, its lowest amount since July 23

The average price has dropped by 1.8 cents over the past nine days, including two-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 1.5 cents less than one week ago, 3.7 cents lower than one month ago and 87.1 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has dropped 43.9 cents since the start of the year.

Stations can begin selling winter blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce, on Sunday, "but it may take a little longer for it to start being sold if gas stations still have a lot of summer blend supply," said Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California.

"Once most stations start selling winter blend, we would expect to see gas prices start falling more quickly," Montgomery told City News Service.
