FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Gold production at the Pogo Mine is temporarily halted for repairs.

According to a press release from Northern Star Resources Ltd., the Pogo team discovered damage to the ball mill motor that was tripped during a restart at the end of a routine mill shut down. The incident occurred on March 15.

The ball mill motor is used for grinding the raw minerals and is essential for day to day operations.

The company is prioritizing cost management and team efforts to ensure a safe return of production as soon as possible.

As a result of the unplanned motor repair, production at the Pogo mine is likely to be impacted by 20,000 to 40,000 ounces of gold during the 2023 fiscal year.

The company expects this repair work to take up to six weeks.

More information will follow as it becomes available.
