Fall Drug Take Back campaign provides safe disposal of unused medications in Fond du Lac area

FOND DU LAC – Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac County has announced the Fall Drug Take Back campaign now through Oct. 24. 

According to a release from Ripon Medical Center, residents are encouraged to empty unused pill bottles and deposit drugs for disposal. The campaign aims to provide safe, convenient and responsible ways to dispose of prescription medications and educate the public about potential abuse of these medications.

According to the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs survey, 53% of Fond du Lac County youth, in eighth, 10th and 11th grade report obtaining prescription medications for misuse from their home/medicine cabinet or parents.

Free medication disposal kits and lock bags can be picked up from 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 22 at the Fond du Lac Senior Center, 151 E. First St., Fond du Lac.

Drive up, drop off and dispose of medications will be offered at the following times and locations on Oct. 21:

  • 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Ripon Senior Center parking lot, 100 E. Jackson St., Ripon.
  • 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., Russell Manor parking lot, 504 Russell Drive, Ripon.
  • 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., WillowBrook Apartments parking lot, 615 W. Oshkosh St., Ripon.
