Two powerful news outlets in the Treasure Valley are joining forces.

Idaho’s dominant news TV station, KTVB Channel 7, is launching into a partnership with the Idaho Press and its affiliates, including the Meridian Press, Boise Weekly and more.

The partnership was announced on Sunday, August 18, in the Idaho Press with a joint column from KTVB President and General Manager Kate Morris and Idaho Press Publisher and President Matt Davison.

"At KTVB we care deeply about the Treasure Valley and live by a clear mission: to build a stronger community. I grew up in Canyon County watching KTVB and reading the Idaho Press, and am proud of the way both have served our communities. Like the Idaho Press, KTVB is investing in local news and expanding our news team to meet the needs of our growing population. We believe joining forces with the Idaho Press not only celebrates quality local news delivered by both of our organizations but also helps us better serve you. Our strategic collaboration is meant to provide you with broader, deeper coverage of stories that impact all of us. Combining our exemplary journalists, KTVB and the Idaho Press are committed to being better together. We are eager for our newsrooms to get started on innovative projects, leveraging our individual strengths to elevate the issues important to you. As we say in broadcast, stay tuned!"

- Kate Morris, KTVB president and general manager

"I believe that local news is the keystone to a healthy community, and our mission at the Idaho Press is to bring you as much of it as possible. Every day we have reporters on the streets interviewing community leaders, sitting through hours of public meetings, mining public records for information that you need to know and generally protecting the democracy that we all love.

Over the past year, the Idaho Press has aggressively expanded its local news coverage to include both Ada and Canyon counties. The growth we’ve seen since making that investment has been exceptional. Our print circulation is up over 40%, and our digital audience has increased by over 75%. These statistics likely make the Idaho Press the fastest-growing newspaper in the country. I’d like to thank all of our new readers for welcoming us into their daily lives and also thank those who have supported us for decades. We would not exist without you.

Today, I’m excited to announce a dynamic news partnership between the Idaho Press and KTVB’s News Channel 7. Together we have built a partnership that will increase the amount of local news consumed in the Treasure Valley. Soon you will see a handful of Idaho Press headlines at KTVB.COM, and you’ll find KTVB’s news videos accompanying local stories online at And this is just the beginning.

I want to publicly welcome KTVB’s news team and thank General Manager Kate Morris for helping build this partnership. KTVB is also committed to local journalism. Together we will bring more local news to the Treasure Valley. And that is a good thing for everybody who lives here."
