Navient to cancel $1.7 billion in student loans as part of settlement
Student loan servicer Navient is going to cancel $1.7 billion in student loans as part of a settlement with 17 states. The settlement was announced Thursday and resulted from allegations the company made loans to millions of borrowers who'd be unlikely to repay them. The company denied it had violated the law as part of the settlement.
