A Los Angeles developer is the next builder headed to Dallas’ North Oak Cliff neighborhood.

Banyan Residential is working on plans for a new rental community to be constructed on North Beckley Avenue near Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The one-block apartment development is planned at Julian Street just west of the Trinity River. The rental project will replace commercial buildings on the site.

Banyan Residential plans to build a five-story apartment building on the block.

Construction is set to start on the Banyan Beckley project in early 2021, according to filings with the state.

JHP Architecture designed the new rental community.

The apartments are planned in an area that is rapidly being redeveloped with new housing.

Banyan Residential is a two-year-old real estate firm that has done projects at home in California, in Arizona and Houston.

The developer plans to build the North Oak Cliff apartments in partnership with Los Angeles-based Mountain Pacific Opportunity Partners

“Centrally located between the rapidly growing Trinity Groves and Bishop Arts neighborhoods,” Banyan Beckley will have approximately 265 market-rate apartments, the company’s website said. “This luxury apartment community offers residents central proximity to downtown Dallas and will feature a wide range of amenities, including a resort-style pool, mobile workspace areas, multi-purpose clubhouse, and rooftop deck with stunning views of the city skyline across the Trinity River basin.”

Dallas-Fort Worth is the country’s largest apartment building market with more than 40,000 rental units under construction.
