The Force is strong with this renovated century home in Gordon Square: House of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Darth Vader’s residence on Mustafar can get pretty hot. It’s located on a volcano, after all. So, what if the Sith Lord had a second home in Cleveland’s Gordon Square neighborhood?

You don’t have to imagine it because Berkshire Hathaway agent Anya Hodgson has done the work you in her listing for the century home at 1911 W. 77th St.

“When we decided to list the house, we wanted to do something unique. Real estate photos can start to blend in together after you’ve skimmed through several homes,” she says. “‘Star Wars’ was chosen simply because my son is a huge fan and I thought, wouldn’t it be interesting to see Darth Vader living as one of us in Gordon Square hanging out with his stormtrooper buddies?”

The photos of Darth Vader holding office hours in the open-concept living space or taking a shower in the sleek bathroom certainly draw you in, but the home’s merits stand on their own.

Built in 1895, the 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home has undergone a complete makeover. The bones are old, but everything inside is new.

“The sellers were especially diligent in remodeling this home, taking it down to the studs and hiring skilled contractors to do all the work,” Hodgson says.

The kitchen is particularly impressive, with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, shaker cabinets, a large island and hardwood flooring throughout the main level. All of the bedrooms, including the master bedroom with en-suite and a walk-in closet/laundry room, are on the second floor along with a second full bathroom. The outdoor space includes a front porch and a generous yard. The detached garage can accommodate two vehicles.

Located on the border of the lively Gordon Square Arts District, the home is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and theaters. On the market since mid-October, the home has an asking price of $299,000 and is eligible for a 15-year tax abatement.
