Export controls are a 'real threat' if Hong Kong's trade status is removed, says economist

The "real threat" to Hong Kong's potential special trade status removal involves the U.S. possibly applying its export control policies with China to the city, which could be "very disastrous" for Hong Kong companies if they cannot use U.S. products and technologies as freely as before, says Iris Pang, ING's chief economist for Greater China.
