3 States With No Income Tax

These three U.S. states have no income tax at all. In New Hampshire, earned income isn't taxed, but if you have interest or dividend income above certain thresholds, it may be taxed at 5%. South Dakota is free of income tax AND state and local sales taxes are below average. Tennessee, like New Hampshire, also taxes dividends and interest (but not earned income). This levy, the so-called Hall Tax, is being phased out.
