Apple Announces New Services in News, Games, TV and Payments

Apple's doubling down on services, its fastest-growing revenue segment. In a keynote, Apple CEO Tim Cook and a lineup of executives introduced its new slate of services offerings, spanning news, games, payments and television. Apple revamped Apple News, and added a new subscription offering called Apple News+. That includes more than 300 magazines as well as LATimes, WSJ and a variety of premium news sites, all for $9.99 with family plans at no additional charge. That is out now. Apple is also planning a subscription games offering called Apple Arcade, which is a single subscription for more than 100 new or exclusive games to be played on Apple devices. There is no pricing or release date announced yet, but execs said we'll know more soon. Apple is also introducing a physical credit card called Apple Card. They teamed up with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard to create the card, which has no fees, low interest rates and other features like a 2% daily cash back offering. Related. There are two parts: Apple TV Channels, which is third-party cable content that Apple licensed from Starz, Showtime, HBO and many others. Apple TV+ is Apple's original content, and the result of many Hollywood partnerships with creators like Oprah Winfrey, J.J. Abrams, Jennifer Aniston and many others.
