Sony TV Signs "Atypical" Creator To New Overall Deal

Robia Rashid, the creator of "Atypical," has inked a new overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind the Netflix show. A coming-of-age comedy that focuses on the life of 18-year-old Sam Gardner - played by Keir Gilchrist - who is on the autism spectrum. The first season consisted of eight episodes and was generally well received by critics, prompting its renewal for a ten-episode second season. Rashid has been with Sony TV since signing her first overall deal with the studio in 2013, after which she worked on shows such as "Bad Teacher" and "The Goldbergs."
