Thor vs. Black Manta — can you dig it?

It seems like the Aquaman star, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, has his eyes on a new role – suggesting that he play Booker T. in the new biopic about WWE legend Hulk Hogan.

After hearing that Chris Hemsworth was set to play Hogan in the new film directed by Todd Philips (The Hangover), Abdul-Mateen II took to Twitter asking, “I’m playing Booker T?? Right??”

As Black Manta in Aquaman, Abdul-Mateen II played an infamously ruthless villain.

“I knew that this was a guy that people love and people relate to for whatever reasons,” Abdul-Mateen II told Comicbook.“They know that he’s a bada– character. They know about his anger, about the destruction.”

“They love the costume and you never know what he’s going to do when he shows up. And so to be able to step into it and to add a lot of those elements to the things that I was going after, it was really, really a phenomenal experience,” he added.

Now he’d like the opportunity to step into the persona that is Booker T.– a six-time WWE World Champion and 11-time WCW Tag Team Champion.

And fans had some great reactions.

The film, produced by Bradley Cooper, is reported to be an origin story of Hogan and the mania surrounding his WWE career, rather than focusing on some of his personal struggles and scandals that have been a hot topic in recent years. Most notably, in 2017, Netflix released a film documenting Hogan’s high-profile lawsuit against Gawker, after the site published his sex tape without his consent.
