Macaulay Culkin is one of the most recognizable child stars -- though he's kept a pretty low profile for the past several years. After his Home Alone days, Macaulay certainly stayed in the business, but kept his personal life very private. Now, in a candid new interview with Esquire, Macaulay is talking about lots of personal details -- most notably, about his past drug use and his girlfriend, Brenda Song. Let's take a look at all of the details that Macaulay gave us!

Macaulay is not holding back when talking about his past battles with drug use. "Listen. I played with some fire, I guess is the best way to put it. At the same time, I’ve never been to rehab or anything like that," he told Esquire, per HollywoodLife. "I’ve never had to clean out that way. There were certain times when I had to catch myself, once or twice. You’re having too good a time, Mack." So, despite acknowledging that he certainly had a little too much fun partying at times, he was always able to pull himself back before things got too bad.

Macaulay also notes that, despite his ability to get clean on his own, he probably isn't the best person to go to for advice on the subject. "I’ve had friends who ask me, ‘How do I get clean?’ And I go, I’m the last person you should ask, because I’m gonna give you the worst advice, which is: Just stop. Just stop! And that’s not the way it works. But I never went so far down that road where I needed outside help."

Presently, Macaulay is proud that he no longer uses drugs. "Besides the occasional [pain prescribed] muscle relaxer, no, I don’t do drugs recreationally. I still kinda drink like a fish. I drink and I smoke. But I don’t touch things. I do love them. They’re like old friends. But sometimes you outgrow your friends.” Macaulay also admits that because he doesn't "put himself out there", people have assumed the worst of him. "People assume that I’m crazy, or a kook, or damaged. Weird. Cracked."

Of course, this image of a "damaged" life could not be farther from the truth, and much of that has to do with his girlfriend, Brenda Song. Macaulay has talked much about his relationships -- neither this one nor his previous long-term relationship with actress Mila Kunis. Nonetheless, Macaulay shares some endearing details about his life with Brenda, including the fact that they're trying to have a baby! Clearly, despite his low profile, Macaulay is doing pretty well, and is happy to be drug-free for the sake of his health and relationship.
