Drawing from the film studio's rich history, Paramount Plus has added a plethora of classic and current films for its subscribers, and each month sees even more great content. Constantly refreshing its catalog from month to month, Paramount Plus has especially excelled in the cinematic department, and its new additions run the gamut from the most popular Hollywood blockbusters to the most obscure cult films and everything in between. Not only does the streaming service draw from Paramount's own wealth of amazing films, but it has continuously offered up diverse content from all corners of film history.
Though movies have always been the streaming service's greatest asset, the platform has also expanded its universal appeal into the realm of TV, and some of the best Paramount Plus original shows rival those of other services. As is usually the case with successful streamers, Paramount Plus's diversity of content has brought in its biggest audience, and its identity has begun to form as a one-stop-shop for every kind of TV show and movie imaginable. Though Paramount Plus doesn’t have a lot of brand-new movies being added to its service in May, it does have a lot of classics, or modern classics, being added to the streaming library. The streamer is going heavy on the dramas and the action for May.
Scream 6 (2023)
- Currently available to stream
Paramount Plus has been steadily adding both library movies and recent theatrical releases to its catalog. Though May has more library releases than new movies, Scream 6 was added to the platform at the end of April and is easily one of the best movies added to Paramount Plus.
The movie is a “requel” for the Scream franchise, focusing largely on the new cast brought in during Scream 5, but moving the franchise to a whole new setting in New York. The movie ups the twists, the body count, and the Easter eggs for horror fans, making it one of the best of the Scream franchise.

Written and directed by Joe Cornish, Attack The Block sees a teen street gang in South London stand up to protect their neighborhood. The catch is that they protect the neighborhood from aliens invading from outer space.

Dead Poets Society (1989)
- Available to stream on May 1
Robin Williams starred in many memorable roles in his lifetime, and so many of his movies are beloved, but Dead Poets Society might be one of the most memorable for his dramatic performance instead of a comedic one. In the movie, Williams stars as an English teacher at a boarding school.
Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, and Josh Charles star as some of the students who are influenced by the conventional teaching style of their mentor. The movie is one that truly tugs at the heartstrings as the students try to forge paths for themselves but suffer under the weight of the pressure placed on them while Williams turns out a stellar performance as the person encouraging them.
Forest Gump (1994)

Though Tom Hanks has had a prestigious career with comedies, dramas, and romances on his resume, Forest Gump will likely be the role he’s best known for. The titular character goes on a quest to reunite with the girl he’s loved since childhood and finds himself in the middle of some of the biggest moments in the history of his lifetime.
Forest Gump won five Oscars and had several more nominations. Those awards included Best Actor for Hanks and Best Picture for the movie. It was also added to the National Film Registry in 2011.

Mean Girls (2004)
- Available to stream on May 1
Mean Girls is a pop culture phenomenon. It’s responsible for such iconic phrases as, “On Wednesday, we wear pink,” and determining whether something is truly “fetch.” It’s also earned itself a holiday of sorts with October 3 deemed “Mean Girls Day” by fans.
Starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried as the titular Mean Girls, the movie is an exemplary teen comedy. In addition to its coming-of-age story, it highlights the truth about cliques among teens with a satirical bent, and it doesn’t lack in laughs. It's already been remade as a Broadway musical, and Mean Girls will get the movie musical treatment as well.
Mission: Impossible 1-4 (1996-2011)

The love story of Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) captured the hearts of the audience and then ripped them right out. Titanic’s tragedy is based in reality, even if Jack and Rose’s story is pure fiction.
Rebuilding parts of the Titanic on massive sets, the design of the costumes, and the underwater camera work all brought the sinking of the ship to life and earned the movie 11 Oscars. Nearly 30 years later, fans even still debate whether Jack could have survived on the floating door that saved Rose.
The Way Of The Dragon (1972)
- Available to stream on May 1
Bruce Lee didn’t just write and direct The Way Of The Dragon; he also starred in the movie and performed his own stunts. Lee stars as a man who defends a family restaurant from the gangsters that threaten it. In the end, the man hired to go up against him is played by Chuck Norris, pitting two different styles of martial arts against one another in Rome’s Colosseum.
The Way Of The Dragon isn’t just a great achievement when it comes to stunts and fight scenes though. It’s an impressive sound editing achievement since the entire movie was filmed without sound, and dialogue was actually recorded and looped in at a later date during the editing process. It’s a highlight of the martial arts genre.
