Avatar Re-Release Trailer Debuts James Cameron's Remastered Vision

Avatar fans got their latest glimpse of James Cameron's remastered version of the iconic film courtesy of a new trailer.

Published to the official Avatar YouTube channel on Aug. 23, the trailer for the hotly anticipated theatrical rerelease of the first film in Cameron's budding franchise showcases the 4K High Dynamic Range in which the film will premiere. The updated visual effects come as no surprise, as they are the same benchmark that led to the series' now iconically long production times.

Cameron previously discussed how the spectacle of the first Avatar nearly kept him from embarking on a sequel. "When you’ve done something that’s been that transcendent in terms of success, do you really want to go try and do that again? There’s a lot of pressure on it," the director stated.

Avatar returns to theaters on Sept. 23.
