It has resulted in Fraser landing key roles in major upcoming releases, such as Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Darren Aronofksy's acclaimed drama The Whale, which hits theaters this month.

Fans aren't going to let Fraser's 54th birthday on Saturday pass by without taking the opportunity to bestow some more appreciation upon the beloved actor. As Brendan Fraser Can Attest, a Lot Can Happen in One Year's Time

This time last year, Fraser was busy working on the production of the superhero movie Batgirl. Starring Leslie Grace as the titular crime-fighter, the film was to also feature Fraser in the role of Firefly, the antagonist. While on location, the cast and crew of Batgirl celebrated Fraser's birthday with the actor on the set. He's all smiles in an image that was posted with directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah giving him a cake.

As we know now, Batgirl was ultimately canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery after filming had been completed. Even though the movie was basically finished and even holding test screenings, the decision was made to pull its release completely, and there are no plans to ever release the footage. We can only wonder what Fraser's performance as Firefly would have been like, and that's just as much of a bummer for the actor as it is for his fans, as he recently described Batgirl's cancelation as "tragic."

But A24 has not canceled the release of The Whale, which has been touted as the film that could finally get Fraser a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars. That movie will be released on Dec. 9. For now, you can see some more tribute posts for Fraser in honor of his birthday below.
