Lady Gaga and Christian Carino are not engaged, despite an inaccurate report. Us Weekly claims the talent agent secretly proposed to his girlfriend over the summer, but that’s not the case. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.

According to the tabloid, Carino recently asked the singer’s father for permission to marry her and he was given the go-ahead. News emerged the two were dating back in February when they were spotted kissing before her performance during the Super Bowl LI halftime show. However, the magazine maintains that the couple won’t be planning a wedding anytime soon due to her health issues. As Gossip Cop reported, Gaga canceled a scheduled concert in Rio in September after becoming ill. A few days later, she announced that the European leg of her “Joanne World Tour” would be postponed due to her struggle with fibromyalgia, a disorder that causes severe physical pain and fatigue. Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Gaga to get to the bottom of the outlet’s engagement claim, and we’re exclusively assured it’s simply “untrue.” Us Weekly clearly needs better sources for the singer because Carino hasn’t popped the question. It should be noted, this isn’t the first time the magazine has wrongly reported that a couple would soon tie the knot. Back when Sean Penn and Charlize Theron were dating, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for speculating he proposed simply because the actress was spotted with a ring on her finger.

But Us Weekly doesn’t only jump the gun on engagements. Back in 2012, Gossip Cop called out the publication for falsely claiming Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were having a baby. Of course, five years later, no such bundle of joy has arrived. The tabloid is clearly eager to celebrate relationship milestones, but it should probably wait until if and when they actually happen.
