Future: BEASTMODE 2 [Epic/Freebandz]

BEASTMODE 2 is Future’s first mixtape of 2018. The nine-track project was executive produced by the late Seth Firkins and Zaytoven, who produced 2015’s Beast Mode mixtape. It includes just one featured artist: Young Scooter on “DOH DOH.” Earlier this year, Future curated and executive produced the soundtrack for the Superfly remake.

Meek Mill: Legends of the Summer EP [Atlantic/Maybach]

Legends of the Summer is Meek Mill’s first project since his April prison release. It also follows his July 2017 studio album Wins & Losses. The four-song EP features Swizz Beatz, Jeremih, PnB Rock, and Miguel. Read Pitchfork’s track review of “Stay Woke” (named Best New Track).

iLoveMakonnen: ILOVEAMERICA [self-released]

iLoveMakonnen dropped the four-song ILOVEAMERICA on Independence Day. The lone feature comes from KEY! on “Twenty’$ on tha Flo.”

Years & Years: Palo Santo [Interscope]

Palo Santo is the sophomore record from UK trio Years & Years. It arrives with a 15-minute short film, directed by Fred Rowson and starring Olly Alexander, Dame Judi Dench, Ben Wishaw, and Vithaya Pansringarm. Years & Years issued their debut, Communion, in 2015.

OKZharp & Manthe Ribane: Closer Apart [Black Major/Hyperdub]

Closer Apart is the debut full-length collaboration from London-based producer Gervase Gordon (aka OKZharp) and Johannesburg vocalist, artist, dancer, and model Manthe Ribane. “Most of the music came out of headphone moments in hotel rooms, planes, and airports in the brief periods of time that we spent together, mainly on tour, in Paris and later Vienna,” OKZharp said.
