New BTS music is on the horizon! Announced on April 27, the South Korean septet will release a new single, called “Butter,” on May 21.

Described as a dance-pop track, “Butter” is said to be “brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS.” The song will be BTS's second-ever full English release following the release on “Dynamite” back in August 2020, which catapulted them to the top of the charts for months.

The single announcement came after a mysterious countdown was posted without prior warning to BTS's BANGTANTV YouTube channel. “What's melting?" the hour-long video title read. (The title has since been changed to “Butter” Logo Trailer.) The video showed a looped animation of melted butter (the same that look like will serve as the single cover art) while comic-like speech bubbles with messages in emoji form popped up from time to time.

On Weverse, Big Hit Music revealed a bit more about the upcoming song. As announced on the platform, “Butter” will also be available as a physical single that will be released in stores in South Korea and abroad sometime this summer. It's very possible that, much like “Dynamite" and BE, “Butter” could also end up being included in a larger project from the group soon.
