According to a recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people. The Ad Council created their Seize the Awkward campaign last year to encourage young people to reach out and help a friend struggling with mental health issues, and teamed up with talent like Billie Eilish, Ava Max and more to spread the word. Now, they're recruiting more stars to spread the word.

On Thursday (Sept. 5), the Ad Council revealed a series of new videos starring Hayley Kiyoko, Christina Perri, Lindsey Stirling and Aminé, where each speak about their own personal struggles with mental health, and how having a friend to turn to helped them through it.

In her video, Kiyoko said that she finds herself dealing with mental health on such a regular basis that she "got to a point where I couldn't not talk about it." But the star said that her sister was always there to support her, even if it seemed like she was having a conversation with her. "Literally just having her call every day, having a basic conversation, listening and being compassionate...I think that's hopeful in those really dark times," she said.

Kiyoko added that while it can feel terrifying talking about your emotional and mental state with someone, staying silent only makes the problem worse. "When you don't talk about it, you feel more isolated, you feel more alone," she said. "We need to talk about it, and there are people that understand and care about you."
