Several Memphis artists, including rapper GloRilla, could soon have Grammy-award winner preceding their names.
GloRilla, recently named the BET Hip-Hop Awards ‘Best Breakthrough Artist,’ is nominated along with Hitkidd for Best Rap Performance at the 2023 Grammy’s for the song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” This is the first time for each of them to be nominated.
GloRilla faces off with several other big names in the category:
- “God Did,” DJ Khaled featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, John Legend and Fridayy
- “Vegas,” Doja Cat
- “Pushin P,” Gunna and Future featuring Young Thug
- “The Heart Part 5,” Kendrick Lamar
GloRilla signed a record deal under Yo Gotti’s label CMG in early July, shortly after the video for the hit single “FNF” was released on April 29 and went viral. The rapper recently collaborated with Cardi B on her most recent single “Tomorrow 2.”
GloRilla just released her EP "Anyways, Life's Great,” available on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify.

Several other Memphis artists are also up for awards.
Memphis-area favorites North Mississippi All Stars and Eric Gales are among those nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album. The North Mississippi Alstars are nominated for ‘Set Sail.’ Gales is nominated for ‘Crown.’
Also in that category are:
- Shemekia Copeland for ‘Done Come Too Far’
- Ben Harper for ‘Bloodline Maintenance’
- Edgar Winter for ‘Brother Johnny.
Hip Hop artist and native Memphian Marco Pavé was also nominated for his contributions to "Requiem for the Enslaved" in the Best Contemporary Classical Composition category.

- ‘Puts: Contact’ - Kevin Puts, composer (Xian Zhang, Time for Three & The Philadelphia Orchestra)
- ‘Simon: Requiem For The Enslaved’ - Carlos Simon, composer (Carlos Simon, MK Zulu, Marco Pavé & Hub New Music)
The 65th annual Grammy Awards will be held Feb. 5, 2023, from Los Angeles, California.
