Rapper Nipsey Hussle was posthumously honored with a Walk of Fame star on what would have been his 37th birthday, three years after he was tragically shot and killed.

To accommodate the large crowd attending the ceremony in front of Amoeba Music, Hollywood Boulevard was partially shut down as his loved one's accepted the honor on his behalf.

The late hip-hop artist's longtime girlfriend, actress Lauren London, who brought their five-year-old son Cross, gave a emotional speech, in which she talked about Hussle's incredible achievements.

'I think I speak for the entire city of LA when I say that we've always known Hussle was destined for greatness,' London, 37, said. 'This moment only amplifies this for us. Nip would've been honored by this moment.'

She continued: 'I think he would want everyone to remember that you cant get to what's possible unless you commit to moving forward. That doesn't mean forgetting where you come from, but it requires acknowledging the reality you were born into and the power you have to change that reality for the better.'

'So whenever you're in the City of Angels and you see this star, I hope it encourages you to break away from whatever might be holding you back and for you to run your marathon until God says that it's finished,' the mother-of-two concluded.

Hussle's sister, Samantha Smith, also spoke at the ceremony as she gushed that saying she is 'proud' of her brother would be an 'understatement.'

'Nip the Great, look at who you are, look at what you did. I'm in awe but I'm not surprised. You've been a star in my eyes, the family's eyes, God's eyes, far before the accolades caught up. You've affected the lives of so many in the realist ways -- the realist ways, the realist ways. You've been a pillar in our family, in the community,' she marveled.

Smith went on to say she's 'always been amazed and impressed' by the example her sibling set and feels 'blessed and grateful' to call him her brother.

His grandmother Margaret Boutte told the crowd: 'He lives forever...And I look at his picture and remember all the wonderful times we had together. Nipsey, I love you, I miss you, but you're close at heart always.'

There was no shortage of celebrity attendees, who came to pay their respects, including Isaiah Thomas and Los Angeles Lakers Russell Westbrook.

This marks the 2,729th star since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961.

In July 2022, Eric Ronald Holder Jr., 32, was convicted for the murder of Grammy nominee, who was shot outside his Los Angeles clothing store in 2019.

Holder faces up to life in prison, where he had already been allegedly jumped by inmates.

Hussle, whose legal name is Ermias Asghedom, had just released his major-label debut album, which earned him his first Grammy nomination, when he was gunned down.

He was a widely beloved figure in Los Angeles, especially in the South LA area where he grew up and remained after gaining fame, buying property and opening businesses.

'He wanted to change the neighborhood,' McKinney said in his closing argument. 'He kept the same friends. And the neighborhood loved him.

'They called him Neighborhood Nip.'

Hussle was mourned at a memorial at the arena then known as Staples Center, and celebrated in a performance at the Grammy Awards that included D.J. Khaled and John Legend.
