Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, pedal steel master Robert Randolph and local favorites Craig Thatcher & Nyke van Wyk and Igor and the Red Elvises are among the 40 acts that will perform live through streaming as part of this year’s Musikfest.

ArtsQuest officials announced last month that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 37th annual music festival would be largely virtual. The 2020 festival, which runs July 31 to Aug 9, will present four bands a night, as part of Virtual Musikfest, starting at 7 p.m. via Musikfest.org and Musikfest’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/musikfest/. The daily schedule of performances will be announced later this month.

First-time Musikfest artists will include: alternative R&B singer Audrey Nuna and jazz singer and trumpet player Brian Newman, known for his work with Lady Gaga.

In addition to the streamed performances, nearly 40 more artists will perform live from the Service Electric TV studios during Musikfest. The Service Electric shows will be announced the week of July 6; all performances will air on Service Electric and then stream on Musikfest.org.

While much of Musikfest will remain virtual, you will still be able to go to the SteelStacks campus and get food from Musikfest vendors, who will be on hand throughout the 10 days of the festival. About 10 vendors will take part in offering a “taste” of the Musikfest midway with a variety of food and beverage options. Everything offered will follow all state and city health & safety regulations in place at the time of Musikfest. Participating vendors and foods will be announced later this summer.

The 10-day festival is the largest of the Lehigh Valley’s events to be affected by the pandemic.
