A 1-year-old boy is dead and his 9-year-old sister is in the hospital following a Wednesday night hit-and-run on the Indianapolis south side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash was reported around 11:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Nelson Avenue.

The two siblings were in the street when they were hit by a car that failed to stop after striking the children, police said.
