SAN ANTONIO- Police are investigating a shooting that happened at an apartment complex near UTSA where a 19-year-old man was shot over selling a used cell phone.

Officers are responding to The Outpost apartment complex on UTSA Boulevard.

Captain David Hightower on scene said the incident was an aggravated robbery where two men were involved with trying to cell a used cell phone over social media.

They met at the back corner of the parking lot of the complex and an argument broke out.

Police said the suspect, a man in his 20s tried to take the phone without paying for it.  He then allegedly shot the other man and took cell phone, fleeing the scene.

The 19-year old man who was shot was taken to University Hospital in critical condition, where the Captain said he is being operated on.

He said video footage footage was captured, but there were no witnesses.

Captain Hightower said there is no affiliation with UTSA, and neither man was recognized as a UTSA student, as there was no evidence that pointed to this.

UTSA patrol cars helped keep the public safe as police assessed the scene.
