Two people are in police custody Friday afternoon after a pursuit of a car that could be related to the investigation into the shooting of Baltimore police Sgt. Isaac Carrington.

City police said an officer on patrol spotted a car around 11:15 a.m. Friday that looked similar to the suspect vehicle in Thursday's shooting. Police have been searching for a car in connection with the case, possibly an Acura.

Police said the officer tried to stop the car, but the driver fled. Police later found the car in the Baltimore Highlands area of Baltimore County. SkyTeam 11 reported the car was stopped on Park Drive near Annapolis Road. Law enforcement from the Baltimore City and Baltimore County police and the sheriff's office all converged at once.

"They got the dogs, the SWAT team, Baltimore City, Baltmore County, sheriffs, everybody out here," said Andrew Blackstone, a witness.

"I mean it was just quick," said Maynard Windeshine, a witness.

The driver sped down a dead end road, stopped the car and two people bolted -- one into a wooded area and the other over a pedestrian bridge.

"Police had their shotguns out, walking the perimeter here, looking in the woods for the suspects," said Debbie Moore, a resident.

SkyTeam 11 reported one of the people was taken into custody in the area of Babybird Court and Songbird Circle. It was not immediately known whether those in custody are connected to the shooting.

The police presence in the neighborhood remained strong into Friday afternoon.

Carrington, 43, was off duty when he was shot Thursday afternoon by a masked man in an attempted robbery, police said. He was taken to Shock Trauma, where he was in surgery Thursday. He has been on life support in the intensive care unit. Carrington was in critical condition Friday after undergoing another surgery.

"He's a good man. If can help you, he's going to help you. He is a good officer," said Dwuane Jordan, Carrington's brother-in-law.
