BASKING RIDGE, NJ — More than $25,000 in cash and jewelry were stolen during a home burglary in Basking Ridge earlier this week.

This was the first home burglary the township has experienced in over a year since the pandemic started, said Bernards Township Police Det. Lt. Jon Burger.

On Tuesday, a resident of the 40 block of Arbor Circle came home and noticed damage to their front door and saw it was open, said Burger.

The resident called 911. Police found the master bedroom was ransacked and a grey safe containing jewelry and cash in excess of $25,000 was taken, said Burger.

The burglary reportedly occurred between 10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.
