Jan. 24—Olympia police are increasing patrols in an eastern section of the city after three vehicles were stolen on Friday, Jan. 20, followed by one more overnight Monday, a spokesman for the department said.

The three incidents reported on Friday:

— A Honda Civic was stolen in the 500 block of Devoe Street Southeast.

— A Dodge Ram wagon/van was stolen in the 600 block of Pattison Street Southeast.

— A Kia Forte was stolen in the 3700 block of Griffin Lane Southeast.

The Kia was later recovered in Tacoma, Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower said.

Then, between Sunday, Jan. 22 and Monday, Jan. 23, a fourth vehicle was stolen in the 1900 block of Ashwood Downs Southeast. That vehicle, a Ford F-250 truck, was later recovered in Graham in Pierce County, Lower said.

According to Lower, some tips for preventing auto theft:

— If possible, park in the driveway or garage of the residence. If parking on the street, park in well-lit areas.

— Remember to lock doors and consider installing car alarms or using steering-wheel locks.

— Get to know your neighbors and share information about the neighborhood. Report suspicious activity.

Anyone with information about the four thefts is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
