6-year-old girl in critical condition after being shot in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood

A 6-year-old girl was shot in the chest in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood on Thursday evening.

The child was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police confirmed.

Police said they responded to a Shotspotter alert around 6 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lawndale Street.

As officers were heading to the scene, they were notified of someone who was shot in the 7100 block of Frankstown Avenue.

Police found the 6-year-old girl in an SUV with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The adult driver was not injured, police confirmed.

Police are investigating. No arrests have been announced.
