A 60-year-old man has been arrested for a deadly stabbing in the east Las Vegas valley on Saturday, according to police.

Brian McLemore was identified as the suspect and taken into custody on suspicion of open murder Wednesday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

A man with a stab wound was brought to North Vista Hospital in North Las Vegas and later died from his injuries early Saturday morning, LVMPD previously said. The Clark County Coroner's office identified him as Melvin Rodriguez, 20.

North Las Vegas Police began an investigation and soon determined the stabbing took place in the 1100 block of N. Pecos Road, near Washington Avenue, which falls under Las Vegas Metropolitan Police's jurisdiction.

LVMPD took over the case and learned Rodriguez had been stabbed during an altercation in a parking lot.

No other details have been immediately provided.

McLemore is being held at Clark County Detention Center. An initial court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday.
