66-year-old Boulder City man accused of assaulting girlfriend at Lake Mead

Prosecutors said a 66-year-old man was indicted at the Las Vegas federal courthouse for allegedly assault his significant other at Lake Mead. 

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Michael David Thompson, of Boulder City, was with his female partner in Sept. 2020 when he allegedly struck the victim at the Boulder Beach Campground. 

Thompson placed his hands around her back, causing the unidentified woman to yell "he is going to kill me," federal authorities said.

National Park Service rangers found the victim with facial bruising, two black eyes and the nose and orbital bone around the eye were fractured, a press release claimed. 

If convicted, Thompson faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine along with possible restitution and supervised release conditions. 

Court records revealed the jury trial was scheduled for Dec. 1, 2020.
