9-year-old, two teens charged after attempted burglary at Manassas vape store, cops say

A 9-year-old boy and two teens were arrested and charged following an attempted burglary at a vape store on Oct. 24 in Manassas, Virginia.

Prince William County Police say a 9-year-old boy and 13-year-old juvenile male were both charged with robbery, and a 14-year-old juvenile male was charged with robbery and possession of burglarious tools.  The store owner identified as 46-year-old Haitham Amer was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. 

Officers responded to investigate an attempted commercial burglary at 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 24 at Bristow Vapes located at 10985 Nokesville Road.

According to police, Amer received an alarm notification at the store shortly after leaving.  He called the police before driving back to the store where he saw three juveniles trying to get inside the business. 

Amer confronted the juveniles and fired multiple shots from his gun into the air.  Investigators say two of the juveniles were detained by Amer and his acquaintance.

Officers took the 9-year-old and 13-year-old into custody and charged them but they were later released to a family member. Police say during their investigation, the 14-year-old was also charged.
