A Buchanan County Supervisor is facing multiple felony charges.

Trey Adkins has been indicted on 82 counts including election fraud and embezzlement, according to Commonwealth's Attorney Zack Stoots.

Adkins is now speaking out about those charges.

Trey Adkins took to Facebook Tuesday night to address criminal charges against him.

Buchanan County Supervisor Trey Adkins said, "We knew this would come to a head eventually, and it has. The charges are out there, we know what we're facing, we know what the accusations are and we're thankful for that. It's going to bring an end to it."

A special grand jury indicted the Buchanan County Supervisor on 82 felony charges related to election fraud. Among those Absentee Voting Procedure Violations, Forgery of Public Records, Making False Statements and Embezzlement of Public Funds.

"I've not been accused of taking money, I've been accused of giving people grapple. Simple as that," Adkins said.

Adkins aunt, Sherry Lynn Bailey, was also charged with 12 counts as part of the investigation.

"The issue they're having is how the envelopes were witnessed. So, you know, it's not that somebody didn't get to vote the way they wanted to, or there was some kind of big fraud going on. That's the term they use for the code section that they applied to it, and we'll address that," Adkins said.

Special prosecutor Zack Stoots says Virginia State Police have been investigating the case for more than two years.

Adkins said in the video he has no plans to step down from the Board of Supervisors.

"And let me be clear about something else here. We will most definitely fight this in court. And once we are able to make a statement and explain who's who and what's going on, it's going to shock this county," Adkins stated.

Adkins told News 5 he plans on releasing his statement later this week.
