The Akron Police Department has released the funeral arrangements for officer Edward Stewart, who passed away last week due to complications of COVID-19. He was 60 years old.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 19 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home on 529 W. Thornton St. in Akron. For those wishing to attend, please remember that masks, and other COVID related safety protocols, including social distancing, must be maintained in order to attend the service.
A private funeral for Stewart will be held on Saturday morning, followed by a Motorcade that is scheduled to arrive in front of the Police Station at approximately 1:15 p.m., where there will be a brief stop for honors and presentation of the flag.
The community is invited to join the salute to Stewart on High St.
Parking will be available at the both the Summit County and Polsky Parking Decks free of charge. Akron police officials emphasize to not park any vehicles on S. High St. between E. Bowery St. and E. State St. beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Violators will be towed at the owner's expense.
