ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an ammunition shipment, a chronic nuisance, damage, a pellet shooting, a domestic disturbance, harassing emails, shoplifting and a DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Ammunition shipment

  • An employee of Chicago Specialty Bakers, 745 N. Larch, reported Wednesday his company received a damaged shipment of a dough machine. Upon opening the shipment, the employee found 16 cases of ammunition. The ammunition was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Chronic nuisance

  • A chronic nuisance warning was issued about 11 a.m. Tuesday to a property in the 100 block of North York Street.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance Tuesday in the 100 block of Fairlane Avenue. A woman said she was arguing with a man. Police saw no signs of injuries. The man and woman agreed to separate for the night.

Damage

  • Graffiti was found Monday on the ceiling support beam on the third level of the Addison parking garage, 149 N. Addison.
  • Someone keyed the passenger side door and fender of a parked car between Friday and Monday in the 100 block of West Third.

Converter thefts

  • Catalytic converters were stolen from two company trucks between May 31 and June 6 at Allied Universal, 435 W. Fullerton.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen overnight June 1 from a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York St.

Pellet shooting

  • Someone shot small metal pellets at a kitchen window between May 30 and June 6 in the 700 block of North Indiana. Several marks were on the window; the glass was not penetrated.

DUI

  • Jose Luis Garces Sala, 32, of Hialeah, Florida, was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Monday at Grand and Lake on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and failure to signal when required. He was released on bond.

Harassing emails

  • A person at Faith Christian Church, 1070 S. Prospect, told police Wednesday that he received a number of harassing emails from a suspect. An officer tried to contact the suspect, but was unsuccessful.

Shoplifting

  • A woman loaded unpaid groceries in a car about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The driver then sped away. An investigation is pending. The suspect was described as black, 5-foot-5 and 100 pounds. A woman with her was described as white with face and neck tattoos.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 100 block of North Berteau Avenue told police Tuesday that he filled out an application and supplied all his personal information. He later determined the application was fraudulent. He was advised to monitor and flag all his accounts.

Fugitive driver

  • About 1 a.m. Monday, officers saw a Jeep Cherokee that was reported stolen in Chicago on North Berteau. They tried to stop the vehicle. The driver sped away.

Driving violations

  • Tyree Dale, 23, of Milwaukee, was cited about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of North Addison on charges of driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana, improper lighting, expired plates and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Dale was released on bond.
