Arrest made in 1 of 2 fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crashes in past week in N.J. town

A driver has been charged in one of the two fatal hit-and-runs involving pedestrians in the past week in Pennsauken, authorities said.

Jaydon Marson-Francis, 23, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death and endangering and injured victim, according to Pennsauken police Capt. Gerald Henkel.

Marson-Francis, of Pennsauken, fled after hitting Louis Mateo near the intersection of Haddonfield Road and Marion Avenue around 1 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Mateo, 39, of Pennsauken was pronounced dead following the crash.

Authorities in Pennsauken are still looking for a driver who struck and killed a 53-year-old man on Route 130 north on Wednesday evening.

Sukhwant Singh, 53, of Camden, was hit by a silver, four-door Chevrolet Malibu around 7 p.m. on the area of Garden Avenue, police said. The sedan has front-end damage.

Singh was brought to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
