SAN DIEGO, CA — Police continued their search Saturday for the person who shot at least three people, one man fatally, in the Mountain View neighborhood of San Diego.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of 45th Street and Logan Avenue just after 9 p.m. Friday, police said.

When officers from Southeastern Division arrived at the scene, they found three men injured by gunshots in the parking lot of a convenience market, according to Lt. Andra Brown of the San Diego Police Department. Officers rendered first aid until San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel took over.

One man had an apparent gunshot injury to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said. Two other men wounded in the shooting were taken to local hospitals with injuries not considered to be life- threatening.

A private citizen transported a fourth victim, a woman, to a hospital, where she reported that she had also been injured in the same shooting, Brown said.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate the incident.

"It is early in the investigation and little is known about the circumstances surrounding the shooting," Brown said. All of the victims had been gathered in the parking lot of the convenience market when they heard several rounds of gunfire and were struck.

There was no immediate description of the suspect, the lieutenant said.

The dead man was identified, but his name was not immediately released.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the homicide unit at 619-531-2293, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
