Authorities in Statesboro searching for 'armed and dangerous' suspect that fired at police

Police in Statesboro are on the hunt for an armed and dangerous man who shot at authorities earlier this week.

According to Statesboro Police, an officer investigating a drug complaint confronted a man around 2 a.m. Sunday near Institute and Rackley streets. The man ran into the woods and fired two rounds at the officer before then firing two more rounds into the sky.

The officer did not return fire.

The suspect is described as a thinly-built black man wearing light colored pants, a green shirt and green hat. He had gold caps on his front teeth.

Police searched the area and a tracking dog was brought to the scene, along with members of the SWAT team. Evidence appears to show the suspect left the area in a vehicle.
