LOWELL, MA — A 3-year-old boy who had been missing since Tuesday morning was found dead Wednesday in a pond in Lowell, officials said.

The boy, Harry K., was dropped off by his parents at his babysitter's house on Freda Lane around 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.

A neighbor said they saw him in the backyard around 9:15 a.m. The babysitter, who has not been publicly named, reported him missing at 9:30 a.m. Harry was one of two children the babysitter was watching at the time, according to CBS Boston.

Two police dogs picked up the boy's scent in the woods behind the house Wednesday afternoon. His body was found in about 5 feet of water near Freda Lane in the clothes he was last seen in, according to police.

Officials don't suspect foul play, and Carlisle Police Chief John Fisher said it appears Harry walked out the door on his own.

The Massachusetts State Police brought in their K-9, air wing and mounted units along with a dive team and the Special Emergency Response Team to help with the search. The Dracut Police, Tyngsborough Police, UMass Lowell Police and two units from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council were also on the scene.

A WBZ reporter on the scene Wednesday morning said she saw officers checking the trunks of every car on Freda Lane.

Harry was last seen wearing a long-sleeve maroon shirt and gray pants with a white stripe.

Police are asking anyone who believes they have seen Harry or know anything about his whereabouts to call 911 or contact the Lowell Police Department at 978-937-3200.
