MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Local police are advising residents to take precautions in light of a recent spate of home burglaries that have occurred throughout the Philadelphia suburbs.

Prowlers seem to be targeting residences that appear to be unoccupied, police said, and such incidents have taken place recently in various municipalities in the region.

Abington Township Police say that their town is one that has experienced an increase in home burglaries, with several having taken place recently at homes on Stockton Road in the Meadowbrook section of the township.

Police in Abington say they continue to investigate the burglaries and they are advising residents take certain steps so as not to become victims. This includes placing lights on a timer, asking a neighbor to park in your driveway if you will be out of town for a while, submit an away home notification to the police department, and contact 911 for any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information about the burglaries are asked to contact the detective division at the Abington Township Police Department at 267-536-1100 ext. 1510.
