WILDOMAR, CA — A 19-year-old woman who is suspected of causing a major-injury crash on Interstate 15 near Wildomar late Thursday night was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.

Hayden Bell of Riverside was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury and DUI with injury. She was released Friday on a $50,000 bail bond, according to jail records.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. Thursday, Bell was heading north "at high speed" on I-15, just south of Clinton Keith Road, in a Kia Forte when she drifted into the #3 lane and rear-ended a Toyota Camry, the CHP reported.

The Camry went out of control and rolled several times. The 25-year-old male driver from Canyon Lake suffered minor injuries but his 24-year-old female passenger, also from Canyon Lake, was seriously injured, according to the CHP. She was sent to Wildomar's Inland Valley Medical Center, but an update on her condition was unavailable.

Bell "was determined to have been driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and was placed under arrest for felony DUI," the CHP reported.

The CHP reminded drivers to always designate a sober driver.

"Drunk driving and drugged driving [are] extremely dangerous and completely avoidable," the agency said.

The CHP is continuing its investigation into the crash.
